Ajené, known by most as simply A.J., began pursuing photography in 2010, when she was stationed by herself in a sleepy upstate NY town for work. The camera gave her a reason to leave the house and explore new things, instead of sitting at home in isolation. Over time, and with a lot of self-correction and research, her amateur enthusiasm to simply document new things evolved into an impassioned creative endeavor. The candid snapshots she took for her Facebook friends turned into real art, and with that, work opportunities soon followed.

AJ’s desire is to work as a freelance photojournalist for major news organizations when her career as an air traffic controller has met its end. Until then, she allots her spare time documenting events, people and places that most pique her interest.
